Etsy vs Shopify Fee Calculator
Sellers scaling past a few sales a month often wonder when it makes financial sense to leave Etsy for their own Shopify store. Enter your average monthly revenue and order volume to see the two platforms' fees side-by-side, and the exact revenue level where Shopify becomes cheaper.
All figures are shown in USD. If you sell in another currency, convert your monthly revenue to USD first for an accurate comparison.

How the break-even point works
Etsy: pay-as-you-sell
No monthly subscription, but a larger cut of every sale — a $0.20 listing fee, a 6.5% transaction fee, and a payment processing fee, plus a regulatory operating fee in some countries.
Shopify: fixed subscription
A fixed monthly cost ($39–$399 depending on plan) but a lower percentage per transaction (2.4%–2.9% + $0.30 with Shopify Payments).
Why there's a crossover point
Etsy's costs scale directly with your sales, while Shopify's fixed cost gets easier to justify as revenue grows. At low volume Etsy is usually cheaper; past the break-even point, Shopify's lower percentage fee overtakes its fixed cost.
What this doesn't include
One-time costs like a Shopify theme, or the value of Etsy's built-in marketplace traffic versus needing to drive your own traffic to a Shopify store — both are worth weighing alongside the raw fee math.
Fee rates change periodically and can vary by seller country and plan. This calculator is an estimate for planning purposes — always confirm current rates on Etsy's Fee Basics and Shopify's pricing page.
